Recently the technical/Practitioner Support lines have recieved a number of calls where thier computers USB ports have stopped working, and the SCIO is not being recognized. We have traced the error back to a windows update that was released recently.
We are currenlty tring to gather more information in order to troubleshoot this issue, and develop a fix. In order to prevent call overflows due to this issue, we are suggesting that everyone disable Automatic Updates until further notice.
The following article will give you the steps to do this. This has been verfied through our entire support network, and should be implemented imediately. Possible Signs of this issue are: USB Ports not recognized, SCIO not recognized, Computer Shutting down when SCIO is plugged in.

To disable Automatic Updates:
L.Click Start L.Click Settings/Control Panel Double L.Click Security Center L.Click on Automatic Updates near the bottom Put the dot into Turn off Automatic Updates. L.Click Apply L.Click Change the way Security Center Alrets me (Left side) Uncheck Automatic Updates. L.Click OK
